My Play Dough Pumpkin!

This is the pumpkin my daughter and I created using the play dough we made in yesterday’s posting. I think it is one of the best play dough pumpkins ever made. Luckily, I have a LOT of orange play dough so I can make more pumpkins. However, the next time I make play dough I am going to decrease the recipe and make a third of a batch at a time. Then I can make different colors with each batch. For the small-scale play dough user like myself I think this will be more than sufficient. On the other hand, If you have a classroom full of kids, or you would like to make enough play dough to give some away (Halloween is coming) I think the large batch is the way to go. Whatever quantity you choose to make, I hope you have fun exercising your creative muscles while you play with your play dough!

I used your recipe and it turned out great! Tonight is “orange” night at our preschool co-op, so I made your recipe, then mixed yellow food coloring into one part of the batch, red food coloring into another part of the batch, and green into a small part. I’ll invite the kids to each take a glob of yellow and one of red, and mix them until it’s – voila! – orange, then shape it into a pumpkin and add a bit of the green for a stem.

Thank you for publishing your recipe. I just used it to make the Lumpy Bumpy Pumpkin.

First we used the smooth playdough from your recipe to make the four perfect pumpkins and then we added dried beans, peas and barley to make it lumpy and bumpy for the fifth pumpkin.

We added pumpkin pie spice to the your playdough recipe, stored it in a Ziploc in the refrigerator and reheated it in the microwave to get it warm and smelling just like pumpkin pie.

My kids say thank you for helping to bring the Lumpy Bumpy Pumpkin to life.
